Volunteers for Cooking Needed!
You are always needed to help us cook the delicious and plentiful meals we want to serve the campers at our retreats and summer camps. Campers have always commented on the great food served at Camp River Ridge. And it's not just about cooking... it's about serving Jesus in the presence of the many young and hungry campers. It's about being a mom or dad away from home!
As a volunteer cook:
As a volunteer cook:
- You don't have to worry about coming up with the menu or shopping for food. Our head cook will take care of the menu and the tasks you can do to help in the kitchen.
- You don't have to have much experience cooking. Take it as a chance to learn!
- It would be most helpful if you can volunteer for the duration of the camp, though we understand life is demanding. Try to make it for most of the camp.
- You would help with prepping the meal, serving the meal, and cleaning up after the meal, making sure the kitchen is clean and in order before the day is done.
- You would get to spend some time away from the busyness of life and have fun with other volunteer moms and dads for a few days!
- For the summer camps, you would stay at the St Joseph's Lodge free of charge. This is a perfect A-frame lodge to getaway. For weekend retreats, other arrangements may have to be made.
- You get to attend Mass and adoration with the campers. That is a wonderful thing to see! And you can see the campers in action during the day.
- Volunteering as a cook is a great way to accompany your child to camp, for example, in case it is his first time.
- Note that you will also need to follow the camp's Safe Environment policy.

Chaperones
We are happy to have you on camp as a chaperone! To be a chaperone, you need to be a parent of one of the campers at the retreat or summer camp.
As a chaperone, you can also be another pair of eyes during camps and retreats. You can help with a whole gamut of things, such as helping with activities or crafts, helping to cook, being present in the evening around the bonfire and helping with snacks. Your presence helps your child be at ease and helps us to create a safe environment at camp.
There is no application for chaperones. We simply ask that you let us know you would like to chaperone for one of your child's retreats and/or camps! Email us at campriverridge@gmail.com.
