Introduction to Safe Environment Requirements
What are the camp's two safe environment programs?
Who is a volunteer?
How many volunteers are needed?
Does my Virtus Certification count?
- Safe Parish: the program (as of 2021) of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, and,
- RC Activities: the camp's parent legal non-profit organization.
Who is a volunteer?
- Any balanced individual at least 18 years of age,
- Anyone helping at a camp activity aimed at minors as a staff, chaperone, cook, or other role,
- Someone with proper training and certification.
How many volunteers are needed?
- A minimum of 2 (unrelated) adults are needed for our events.
- We hold to a 1:10 ratio (though we strive for 1:6 for middle school and 1:8 for high school).
Does my Virtus Certification count?
- You may send us your own diocese' safe environment certification if you are coming to chaperone just one event. However, we prefer you take the Indianapolis Archdiocese certification anyway. And, for volunteering more than one event, you will need to take the Safe Parish of Indianapolis.
- Also, and unfortunately, doing another diocese' Safe Parish program does not count, since each diocese has their program set up differently.
